Final week in Costa Rica

Where has the time gone? It felt like just yesterday I was arriving at training camp, seeing all the new faces of my teammates. Now we are down to the final days, excited to go home, but also sad to leave our new life-long friends. Going from strangers to family members in 3 months is crazy! We have all gotten so close that I can’t imagine a day without them. For the past 3 months I have seen my teammates 24/7. We have gone through so much, but have come out even stronger than before! In just a few days we will be going back to our old lives and back to where we stopped everything else 12 weeks ago. It will be a hard time adjusting and some of us will struggle, but we have each other no matter what.

While living in the jungle, we have been doing ministry in town a lot. I have been able to talk to some amazing people and pray for them. We have also been helping the church we have been attending every Sunday since being here. We have loved it here except for the bugs, sweat, and walking. We are all very thankful and can’t wait for that thanksgiving turkey. A big struggle for us has been knowing we are coming home so soon and not being able to focus on here. It’s hard, but a good learning experience.

As it is our last week together, we have made it fun by calling it spirit week! Every night the leaders announce what the next day will be and who the winners are for the previous day. It’s a fun way to bond more and be goofy! The first day was makeover day. I had one of the older girls do my makeup. It’s funny to see the after math since none of us have worn a lot of makeup in a very long time. Because I had such a drastic change, I won for that day. The next day was imitation-of-our-leaders-day. I did not participate, but I had some friends dress up as our leaders and it was so funny seeing their imitations. The next day we were doing ministry at our house so we had wacky inside out day! We had so much fun watching everyone look all wacky. Today’s day is ghetto day! We all can’t wait for this one!

This week has been super tough since we are so close to going home. I am ready to see my family and friends and Belgium, but the question is, is home ready to see the changed Sarah Mobley who has learned so much and has so much to share with everyone else? My faith is stronger and I have grown as a person. It will be hard to adjust back home, but I can’t wait to see what God has planned next.

For those who haven’t heard, I am taking one more semester off before I decide what I am doing next. I will be volunteering a lot and using what I have learned here back home.

Please pray for travels and safety while we get back home. I fly back to the U.S. on the 23rd and get to Belgium on the 25th. God bless and thank you for all the support
