The deeper meaning

Coming up on a month together with these crazy people and through all the memories we have made I wanted to share one that stuck out to me. It’s about a house but the house has more meaning than just being a house, it’s a symbol and a lesson. The past days we’ve been working on a house as a team. A woman lives at the house who needs a kidney transplant, she didn’t know this until she found out she was pregnant. The doctors did an emergency c section which made the baby very sick. once the baby was able to come home physically, social services came to the house to make sure the condition of the house was suitable for the baby. It was not. Walls were coming down, nails were sticking out, wood was molding. So they wouldn’t let the baby come home and told her that if she didn’t have it fixed the government would take the baby. A neighboring church fundraised for her and fundraised enough money to rebuild the house in the right condition. That’s where our team comes in. We tore down the house the first day. Using hammers and saws and strength. We tore the house down.

Ephesians 4:22-24
22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put offyour old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

The thing about this story is how the house represents humans. How they are sick and barely standing. How they have things inside them such as struggles and burdens and need to be torn down to become new again. After being torn down you lay the foundation for your future suck as the walls that will hold the house together. We laid concrete, before the floor was broken and un even. God will come in and lay your foundation to be smooth, even and strong. We are in the process of building the walls now. The walls before were weak and had holes where water could get in when it rained and bugs could come in making it unhealthy living environment. We’re now building new walls with stronger materials to protect from that. God will protect. He is your walls that will guard from all the bad things that want in your life. After the walls the extra is just a blessing. Gods going to provide everything you need.

Because God provided for this family she is getting a new hope to her life. She will have a safe place for her baby boy to come home too and for him to grow up in. It’s been a true blessing to help her the past days. I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the end.
